Climbing Cam

CLIMBING CAM · UPDATED OCTOBER 27, 2026

Privacy, in
plain language.

This page describes the Climbing Cam web editor, iPhone app, and website.

Local editing, optional publishing

The iPhone app records and edits video locally. It does not require a Climbing Cam account, upload recordings to Paaaack automatically, or include an advertising or analytics SDK. Imported videos are copied into temporary app storage; your originals in Photos are not changed.

Web editor storage

Choosing a video opens it locally in your browser. Trimming and title rendering happen on your device. Original videos and exported files are not uploaded or stored on our servers unless you choose Instagram publishing. Save your exported file before closing or refreshing the page. Language, gym, grade, climb type, and hashtag preferences are remembered in this browser’s local storage; you can remove them through your browser’s site-data settings. A pending Instagram request and its caption may be kept in tab session storage to recover its status after a refresh. Instagram connection credentials use secure, HTTP-only cookies. The installable web app may cache its public interface and static files for offline use; it does not cache uploaded videos, API responses, or OAuth callbacks.

Permissions you control

You can change camera and microphone access in iPhone Settings. Gym names, grades, selected options, and hashtags are saved locally on your device.

Sharing is your choice

Copying a caption puts the text on your system clipboard. Sharing a video opens the iPhone share sheet. When you choose Instagram or another destination, that service receives the content you share and handles it under its own privacy policy. Direct Instagram publishing is optional and requires a connected Creator or Business account when the integration is enabled.

Optional Instagram connection

When enabled, Connect Instagram uses Meta’s authorization screen. We do not receive your Instagram password. The server stores your Instagram account identifier, username, and an encrypted access token. The app stores its connection credential in the iPhone Keychain. Preparing a Reel uploads only the edited clip you choose to private temporary storage, then sends it and its caption to Meta. You confirm before the app publishes the Reel.

Temporary uploads are deleted after successful publishing where possible, with a one-day storage lifecycle as a fallback. Connection and publishing records, including captions, may remain for up to 60 days, and expired records are purged during subsequent connection requests. Disconnect Instagram removes the server connection, encrypted token, and its publishing records and attempts to remove remaining temporary uploads. It does not delete Instagram posts. You can also revoke access in Instagram’s app permissions. For a deletion request without the app, contact the email below with your Instagram username; we will verify ownership before deleting records.

Removing local copies

The app lets you discard its local recording or imported copy and exported clips. This does not delete your original video in Photos or a post you have shared to another service. Deleting the app removes its local app files; Keychain credentials may remain after uninstalling. Disconnect Instagram before removing the app. Normal iOS backup settings may also apply.

This website and contacting us

When configured, the website and web editor use Google Analytics for page visits and basic actions: opening the editor, importing, exporting, downloading, sharing, copying captions, installing the app, changing language, and using the gym picker. Action events contain only predefined categories and outcomes. We do not include videos, filenames, captions, hashtags, selected gym names, grades, dates, account names, or credentials in these events. The existing internal-traffic opt-out also applies to these events. The early-access link opens your email app and does not subscribe you to a mailing list. If you email us, we use the details and message you send to respond.
